FUNDRAISER, SONGS OF NEIL DIMOND WITH JUDY SIGRIST

Who knows cancer affects more than just the body of the one who has been diagnosed? It affects the whole family. Especially if it’s the main bread winner of the family that has the cancer and a house mortgage and car payments need to be paid! Or the cost of top and bottom dentures due to the treatment for throat cancer is the removal of all one’s teeth! ( Note:Two thousand dollars is going towards Noel’s dentures! Wonderful news!) Then the medical bills.. but I think you get the picture.
Here is your chance to help a local boy, Noel Wheatley. Married with three children and had a tiling business. Most people know this friendly, hard working bloke and to hear of his battle with throat cancer and the ensuring financial struggles is heart breaking.
The family has been on an emotional rollar coaster ride since finding out Noel has cancer, the added burden of worrying about finances is not helping him or his family.
So a Fund Raising Concert is being held to help him!
Please come along and have an enjoyable evening and know you will be helping a local boy and his family.
Order your tickets now or pay on night!

Vivaldi, Bach, Paganini

Chamber Philharmonia Cologne, classics from Germany.

After several successful European tours in 2016 and 2017 the Chamber Philharmonia Cologne (Germany) is coming back to Australia in summer with a powerful and lovely new programme.

“Classical music the world over” – this is the motto of the Chamber Philharmonia Cologne. It is irrelevant for our musicians whether they are playing in a little village church, in the open air, in Cologne Cathedral or in the Sydney Opera House – their enthusiasm to play music is the same every time.

The objective is simple – we want to inspire as many people as possible across all generations to enjoy classical music. The popularity of our ensemble is reflected in the fact that the Chamber Philharmonia Cologne gives around 300 concerts a year around the globe and listeners throughout the world look forward to a musical encounter with our exceptionally talented musicians.

The Chamber Philharmonia Cologne was founded in the city whose name they bear: Cologne. The city that is famous throughout the world for its University of Music and its musical and instrumental teaching. Generations of musicians have been trained here for many decades who, in terms of their musicality, are unparalleled around the world. Taking advantage of this pool of talent, a stock of outstanding musicians has accrued that in a changing cast of musicians take our motto across the world.

Since November 2009, the Chamber Philharmonia Cologne has a very special partner at their side – the Mercedes-Benz Centre in Cologne. As part of a creative cooperation, this world-renowned company, via its branch in Cologne, thrilled by our musical concept provides the Chamber Philharmonia Cologne with a comfortable tour bus. It enables our musicians to travel quickly and comfortably to the many varied concert locations. In return, the Chamber Philharmonia Cologne, in close cooperation with the Mercedes-Benz Center Cologne, organises special concerts for the car company’s special customers. The remarkable construction of the Mercedes-Benz Center is transformed in the process into a really top-class concert palace. This results in the smell of new cars mixing with the sounds of classical music.

The Chamber Philharmonia Cologne is at home all over the world. Our tours regularly take us to New Zealand, Australia, Spain, Great Britain, Ireland and many other countries – and of course to Germany. In this context, the selection of works and soloists takes on a special significance. The multifaceted composition of the ensemble provides every member of the Chamber Philharmonia Cologne with the opportunity to perform as a soloist.

The permanently expanding repertoire of the Chamber Philharmonia Cologne consists primarily of hand-picked pieces. The real appeal of our programme lies in the meeting of popular and unknown works from a wide variety of musical epochs. This sees familiar greats like Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Antonio Vivaldi in dialogue with works from people such as Sergei Prokofieff through to the “King of Tango” Astor Piazzolla. This mix promises great diversity of the very highest order, without us having to preach to the audience in the process. After all, music is for entertainment and not for instruction.

To inspire people across the world to enjoy classical music – that’s what we view as our maxim!

Quite simply:

Classical music the world over!

THE HIGHWAYMEN

THE HIGHWAYMEN

A tribute to the outlaws of country

Collectively as THE HIGHWAYMEN, the quartet has a unique connection to Australians that has only strengthened over the last two decades. THE HIGHWAYMEN toured Australia in 1991 and 1995, playing Newcastle, Adelaide, Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and Brisbane, attracting hundreds of thousands to their concerts and appearances and generating an excitement rivalled only by that of the Beatles.

Now, a Canadian born International performer and producer Dale Platz – along with Graham Jensen, Gary LeGear, has recreated the magic that is THE HIGHWAYMEN.

The show features a great musicianship with pedal steel guitar, acoustic and electric guitars, drums, banjo, mandolin, fiddle and harmonica. THE HIGHWAYMEN tribute show is a musical and visual re-creation – right down to their desert backdrop and the trademark rifle coats. This level of professionalism has really hit the mark with the audiences.

It is the only genuine, touring HIGHWAYMEN show in the Southern Hemisphere.

All THE HIGHWAYMEN’s: Great songs are included: ”Silver Stallion”,”Live Forever”,”THE HIGHWAYMEN” and many more, along with individual classics like “Luckenback Texas”, “On the road again”, “Folsom prison blues”, “Ring of Fire” and “Help me make it through the night” – 40 classic songs in all.

As Waylon Jennings once said in an interview about THE HIGHWAYMEN – “it’s all about the songs”.

The Gympie Youth Art Project

The Gympie Youth Art Project presents self-devised film and drama created by Gympie youth, celebrating our community. What is community? Is it simply, like family, the people we find ourselves living among through chance or the random choices we make?

Memories in the Dolls House (and other alternative facts) is a play about just that – random people sharing three units, side by side, going about their lives. But is there something different about this community? Why is the same painting in each unit? A painting of a dolls house filled with odd pieces of memorabilia.
Why do things keep disappearing from the units? Is something more sinister occurring in this community? Or are some of the residents simply being paranoid? The truth may surprise you.

Good Morning Gympie will turn the camera on our town and give a fly on the wall documentary of our community.
Put it all together, and you have original comedy, documentary, mystery and thought-provoking drama.
